Woman gets pedicure and then loses her big toe. She’s now suing an Horry County nail salon

An Horry County woman is suing a Murrells Inlet nail salon, claiming she lost her big toe after getting a pedicure at the business.

Karen Copeland filed the lawsuit against Four Seasons Nails and Spa, located at 3100 US 17 Business, Unit C, and its owner Tony Tran on Feb. 20.

Copeland alleges that employees performed a pedicure on Feb. 24, 2021, that resulted in a bacteria infection. From that, Copeland’s “right great toe” had to amputated, the suit said.

A message left for Tran at the salon was not immediately returned.

The suit alleges that the nail salon was negligent in failing to inspect its tools and equipment used for the procedure to ensure that they were safe to use and providing an unsafe environment for customers.

Copeland received permanent injury and impairment, which caused medical bills and pain and suffering, including emotional, the suit said.

She is asking for a judgment against the salon and Tran.
