Woman gets prison in crash that killed man in Lower Southampton

An Upper Southampton woman will spend up to five years in prison for causing a crash that killed a Philadelphia man in Lower Southampton.

On Monday, Adrienne Breslin, 46, was sentenced to two to five years in state prison for the March 2021 crash that killed 87-year-old Irwin Linder, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.

Breslin pleaded guilty in August to homicide by vehicle, which is a felony, as well as a misdemeanor of recklessly endangering another person and summary traffic offenses.

Lower Southampton police said she crashed head-on into Linder's vehicle in the 300 block of County Line Road about 6 p.m. March 25, 2021. Linder was taken to Abington Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Breslin's attorney Paul Mallis said his client was distraught after the crash, which led to two subsequent DUI arrests. He said she was completely remorseful and worked to resolve the case quickly.

“She accepted full responsibility," he said. "She didn’t fight the case.”

Breslin was driving her Dodge Durango eastbound in the 300 block of County Line Road when she drove into the opposite lane and struck a Nissan Rogue driven by Linder about 5:50 p.m.

Breslin crossed over the turning lane and went into westbound traffic, according to court documents. One vehicle managed to move out of the way before she struck Linder's vehicle, police said.

Both vehicles involved in the crash were inspected, according to police, who said no defects were found in either that would have contributed to the crash.

Investigators found Breslin was going 48 mph when she crashed into Linder's vehicle, court documents state. Police said she did not brake prior to the crash.

Breslin was sentenced to concurrent jail sentences for her two DUI cases, and was also sentenced to two years of probation.

Linder, of Philadelphia, was a Korean War veteran and a retired teacher, according to his obituary.
