Woman hit, killed in east Las Vegas after crossing road
Update: The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Leonida Jones, 82, from Las Vegas. Her cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries, with the manner being accidental.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – An 82-year-old woman died after being hit by a truck in the east Las Vegas valley on Wednesday.
It happened shortly after 7 p.m. near Tropicana Avenue and Calle Del Mar, east of the Boulder Highway, Las Vegas Metropolitan police said.
The woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was crossing the road outside a designated crosswalk when she was hit, police said.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area. Tropicana Avenue is closed in both directions from Stephanie to Steptoe Street.
The victim is the 29th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2024.
