Woman hospitalized, 3 young suspects arrested after Gresham assault, robbery

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Following a four-hour search, authorities said they arrested three young robbery suspects in Gresham.

According to Gresham police, officers responded to an assault and robbery report Monday night near Southwest Eastman Parkway.

Officers said they learned that three suspects had assaulted and robbed a woman after she opened the garage door at her home.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Additional officers were called to the scene to surround the area while a search began.

Working with canines and drones, Gresham police and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office searched the neighborhood and said they eventually found two young suspects hiding in a backyard.

“The drones, as they’re called, are a great resource for us. they can see things we can’t in the darkness, and they allow us to search places with technology before we put a person into that environment,” said Gresham PD Detective Adam Wright. “We found that to be safer for our officers, for the public, and for the people we’re trying to apprehend.”

Around 1 a.m. the third suspect was found in the area and the neighborhood search ended.

The incident is still under investigation and authorities said that no other information is available at the time.
