Woman injured in early morning shooting at 'parking lot party'

One woman was injured in an early morning shooting Saturday in south Tallahassee.

The Tallahassee Police Department responded to a local hospital where the victim of the shooting was taken to treat her injuries. At around 2 a.m. an adult female was shot while attending a parking lot party in the area of Palmer Avenue and South Monroe Street.

She sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the thigh. A friend drove her to the hospital.

"No arrests have been made and this investigation remains open and active," said the Tallahassee Public Information Office in an incident synopsis.

This incident marks the third known shooting of the weekend. Two were injured in an early Friday shooting at a warehouse party and one woman was shot and died due to injuries in a shooting later in the day on Saturday.

This incident of gun violence was the capital city and county's 78th serious shooting of the year. So far this year, 20 people have died in shootings and at least 66 have been injured. according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis.
