Woman injured in East Nashville shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman was injured after being shot in East Nashville Tuesday evening.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said the 18-year-old woman was shot at the intersection of North 7th Street and Ramsey Street shortly before 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20. Officers at the scene told News 2 they found nearly 30 shell casings at the intersection.

The woman was reportedly shot in the shoulder/chest area. The SUV she was riding in crashed near the intersection of Woodland Street and South 7th Street, where officers said they saw three to four people run from the vehicle, leaving the victim inside.

The 18-year-old allegedly told officers she was driving when someone came out of a residence near North 7th Street and started shooting at her.

She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries, according to investigators.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No other information was released.
