Woman kidnapped, assaulted, held in Florida motel room

A woman was pulled from a parked car, forced into a van, driven to a park, sexually assaulted, then confined to a motel room and offered for prostitution, investigators said.

She was found the next day through the efforts of her mother, a friend, and a stranger, investigators said.

Her mother heard a scream about 11:25 p.m. April 15 and ran outside where she saw her adult daughter being pushed into a red minivan. It sped away from the Broadview Park neighborhood, northwest of Interstate 595 and State Road 7, west of Fort Lauderdale, according to the incident report.

The mother called 911 and jumped in a car with her daughter’s friend. They chased the van but lost it, the report stated.

The friend later told Broward Sheriff’s deputies he and the woman had been talking in his car, parked in the 4100 block of Southwest 22nd Street, before she was grabbed and forced into the van against her will, detectives said.

A missing person report was filed and an alert was issued to other police agencies in South Florida.

The next morning, a man flagged down a Plantation police car and told officers he saw a man “smacking” a woman the night before and taking her to a motel room in the 1100 block of S. State Road 7, north of Davie Boulevard.

The man also told officers he heard arguing all night long, including a woman yelling, “I want to leave” and a man yelling, “I own you, [expletive],” the report stated.

Police contacted the people inside the motel room and the woman came outside. Officers determined she was the person reported missing. Broward Sheriff’s deputies continued the investigation because the motel was located in their jurisdiction.

She told them she could not escape because the van driver had an “M-16″ type rifle. She also said she was sexually assaulted in Sunview Park, at 1500 SW 42nd Ave., southwest of Davie Boulevard and State Road 7. Then, she was taken to the motel, where she was threatened, grabbed by the hair and offered to another man for sex for $150, according to the arrest report.

Detectives arrested Earnest Antwann Thompson, 43, of Oakland Park, at the motel. He is charged with sexual battery, false imprisonment and human trafficking.

New charges of kidnapping and sexual assault were added Tuesday. Thompson remains in the Broward County Jail on bonds totaling $475,000.
