Woman killed after being struck by a train in Lebanon city, police working to identify her

A woman was killed Sunday after a train in Lebanon city struck her, according to Lebanon police.

Officers were dispatched at 12:36 p.m. to the railroad crossing at 7th Street for a pedestrian stuck by a passing train. Witnesses stated the woman was walking south on 7th Street and attempted to cross the tracks in front of the approaching train.

The train was on the north set of tracks traveling westbound.

"No one else was injured," Lebanon City Police Chief Todd Breiner said in a press release. "The woman is from Lebanon and is believed to be in her late 50s or early 60s."

The woman did not possess identification at the time of the accident. Breiner said her name will be released pending a proper identification and notification of her family.
