The incident began when SPPD saw a stolen vehicle driving in the area of San Pablo Dam Road and San Pablo Avenue just after 1 p.m., police said. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled and later crashed into a parked car on the 2100 block of Alfreda Boulevard.

One officer believed the car was disabled and got out of his police car to arrest the suspects. However, SPPD said the car accelerated towards the roadway where the officer was standing and struck him. At the same time, the officer fired two rounds and hit the front windshield of the suspect car.

SPPD officers continued to follow the car but lost sight of it in the city of Richmond. The suspect car is a red 2018 Chevy Malibu with the California license plate 8ZUH227.

The driver was described as an African American woman. There is no description available for the passenger in her car.

SPPD is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (510) 215-3150. Anyone who sees the red Chevy is asked to contact their local police department.
