Woman loves suspense of playing lottery. Her jackpot win in NC comes at perfect time
A North Carolina woman couldn’t have won the lottery at a better time after she had to buy a new car, she told lottery officials.
Archdale resident Catie Haney was playing her favorite N.C. Education Lottery game, Super Loteria, when she won the jackpot of $150,000.
“I just start scratching everything off,” the 28-year-old told lottery officials. “And I am like, ‘No way.’ I was in disbelief.”
The winnings will eliminate Haney’s car payments — an expense she said she planned to have for years, according to lottery officials.
“I actually had to buy a new car this year, because my car was so old that it was basically falling apart on me,” Haney told lottery officials, and added that thanks to the prize, “I am going to actually pay it off next week.”
Haney bought her lucky scratch-off tickets at Zingo Express in Archdale, according to lottery officials.
Haney took home $106,876 after taxes and plans to put any remaining money toward a home after she pays off her car, she told lottery officials.
Archdale is about 80 miles northeast of Charlotte.
