The woman who married herself, 50 years of Metro, today's top stories | Daily Briefing
Good morning! Erin Couch here, breaking news reporter for The Enquirer.
Dorothy “Dottie” Fideli went viral in May when she plunged into a personal experience that's become an international sensation: a marriage ceremony, in which she made vows to herself.

The 77-year-old is known around a local retirement community as a vivacious goofball who is always causing a ruckus. (Picture her flaunting her many costumes up and down the halls, or dancing atop the counters on field trips to the neighborhood bar.)
What many people don’t know about Dottie is she hasn’t always loved herself. More specifically, she was insecure about her inability to read.
That all changed at age 74 when she picked up a book for the first time.
Read all about Dottie's story, including how her life went from difficult to filled with joy, here.
