A dog is as much a part of a family as any other member. It’s no surprise that losing a pet can be as heartbreaking as losing a loved one.

Last December, TikToker Andrew Michael shared the story of how his sister Maddi Michael got her second dog, Peaches. The situation was bittersweet, but in the end, Maddi and Peaches got their happy ending. The touching video received over 1.7 million views on TikTok.

“My sister’s puppy tragically passed away this year,” Andrew explained. “Mom and dad said she couldn’t get a new one til spring. Until Christmas Day and one box started barking…”

In the footage, Maddi knew exactly what was in the box, and before she even opened it, she was already crying. Her love for both her deceased dog and her new one was palpable as she tearfully cradled the tiny puppy in her arms.

Maddi explained the tragic loss of her previous dog on her channel.

“She had a litter of 11 puppies before she was a year old, and it was really hard on her body and caused liver failure,” she said in the comment section of a video.

“No words needed, her reaction says it all,” a user commented.

“There will be no shortage of love for that little puppy,” another wrote.

“The tears said it all,” someone added.
