A woman Photoshopped her family's Christmas card to include her military husband who's serving overseas
Danielle Cobo and her husband have been married for six-and-a-half years and have 2-and-a-half-year-old twins.
Danielle's husband is serving overseas in the military, but they still wanted to take a family picture for this year's Christmas card.
With the help of Photoshop, the couple held hands in their Christmas photo.
The holidays are a time for family and friends to come together and share in festive celebrations. For those with loved ones in the military, that's not always an option — unless Photoshop is involved.
Danielle Cobo's husband of six-and-a-half years, who she requested remain anonymous due to his work in the military, is currently serving overseas as a Blackhawk Pilot. With their 2-and-a-half-year-old twins, the family has lived in three different states and endured several months apart at a time.
"This year's deployment has been the toughest," Cobo told Insider. "By the time he returns, my husband will have missed half of our twins' lives. With that said, I wouldn't change a thing."
Even though they couldn't be together for Christmas, the Cobos wanted to mark the occasion with a family Christmas card.
"This year, like many other military families, we are missing the holidays together," she said. "However with some creative photography, help from Photoshop, and a little luck, we have found a way to be together for the holidays."
Cobo's husband posed on his military base with his left arm outstretched, and Cobo held out her right arm from her side of the world. Thanks to the magic of Photoshop, they appear to be holding hands.
Cobo told Insider she was inspired by a similar maternity photo shoot that went viral in 2017, where Veronica Phillips and her military husband, Brandon, posed together with her growing baby bump.
Cobo hopes her family's Christmas card helps other military families know they're not alone if their holiday celebrations are missing someone special.
"[We] just wanted to share our picture and offer encouragement to all the other strong military families out there," she said. "Where there's a will, there's a way. This year, we ask Santa to bring Daddy home safe."
