Woman punched in unprovoked, antisemitic attack in Midtown Manhattan subway station

A man punched a woman in the face in a Midtown Manhattan subway station in an unprovoked, antisemitic attack, police said Wednesday.

The 29-year-old woman was in a 7 train passageway inside of the station at 42nd St. and Lexington Ave. when the man approached her around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said.

The man slugged the victim in the face. When she asked why he attacked her he spat, “You are Jewish,” police said.

The man took off, leaving the woman with minor injuries. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit is investigating the attack.

There were no immediate arrests.

Police released images of the man Wednesday in the hopes someone may recognize him. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
