Woman robbed at knifepoint on popular Aspen-area trail

DENVER (KDVR) — Investigators are searching for the person who reportedly robbed a woman at knifepoint Monday on a popular Aspen-area trail.

A man called 911 to report the robbery just after 9 a.m. along Smuggler Mountain Road. The caller said a “guy had pulled a knife on a woman on the trail” but said he had not witnessed the incident himself, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office. He said the woman approached him after the alleged robbery.

“I want to thank our public safety partners for their help this morning. I am confident in my team’s abilities and the team’s abilities at the Aspen Police Department to bring this individual to justice,” Pitkin County Sheriff Michael Buglione said in a release.
