Woman seriously injured in three-vehicle crash on I-29

Mar. 24—A Manhattan, Kansas, woman was taken to Mosaic Life Care with serious injuries Friday after a collision on Interstate 29 near a construction zone.

Vehicles were northbound on I-29 when Michael Ordonez, 26, of Manhattan, Kansas, who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, struck a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox in the rear as it slowed down for an upcoming construction zone, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The Cobalt traveled off the left side of the roadway. The Equinox, driven by Stanley Drimmel, 70, of Lancaster, Kansas, pushed forward and struck a 2018 Chevrolet Impala in the rear. The Equinox came to rest in the median, and the Impala made a controlled stop in the median, according to the crash report.

Marissa Lord, 29, of Manhattan, Kansas, was an occupant of the Cobalt and suffered serious injuries. Lord was not wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.

Cynthia Drimmel, 68, of Lancaster, Kansas, was an occupant of the Equinox and suffered minor injuries in the accident. She was wearing a seat belt.

Both were transported to the hospital by Buchanan County EMS.
