Police were at the scene of a shooting outside the Grand Hyatt at San Francisco International Airport. Betty Yu tells us the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
- Breaking news near SFO. A shooting happened just steps away from the airport at the Grand Hyatt. KPIX's Betty Yu is there with the very latest, Betty.
BETTY YU: Liz, SFPD says that at this hour they do not have a suspect in custody, but add that this is not an active shooter situation. Right now appears to be business as usual at SFO, but there is still a heavy police presence at the scene.
- Tonight police tape roped off the area outside the Grand Hyatt at SFO. Officers say around 8:00 PM they found a woman shot near the roadway. She was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting did not happen inside an airport building. There are reports that this was an attempted carjacking, but SFPD will not confirm that at this time. In the last hour, SFO said airlines have been given the OK to deplane.
DANE HULING: I've never had any concerns of safety at SFO. I mean, seeing the footage of what happened and the fact that someone was hurt you know, that's a real fact, but you know from personal experience I've been in and out of here a couple of dozen times.
DAUNTE WATTS: I don't think there's too much of a violence, I mean, around the airport specifically, but stuff just happened at random. Stuff just happen at random.
BETTY YU: And those passengers you just heard from had just gotten off a plane from Hawaii with no issues. Again, right now SFPD says that no arrests have been made and there is no description of the suspect, Liz.
- All right, Betty, thank you. We'll have the very latest tomorrow morning at 4:30.
