Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in train strike in Brockton

BROCKTON – A woman struck by a commuter rail train at Campello Station is being treated at Good Samaritan Medical Center for life-threatening injuries, according to Brockton fire officials.

The woman had "positioned herself under the platform," said Superintendent Richard Sullivan of the MBTA Transit Police.

"At approximately 7:10 a.m. the aforementioned female positioned a portion of her body extending beyond from under the platform edge and was struck by a commuter rail train," Sullivan said. "The female sustained serious injuries as a result thereof and has been transported to a local hospital for emergency care."

Sullivan said foul play isn't suspected.

The incident caused delays in both directions on the Middleboro line, an MBTA spokesperson said.
