‘Extremely dangerous’: Bellevue SWAT arrest suspect after gunshots, fight outside restaurant

Leaders with the Bellevue Police Department said investigators arrested a woman accused of firing shots outside a busy downtown Bellevue restaurant and bar last week.

In the early morning hours of September 24, Bellevue police investigated a report of a disturbance in downtown Bellevue.

Two groups, who were involved in an earlier physical fight that night, were seen fighting again on the sidewalk in front of Earl’s Kitchen + Bar.

KIRO 7 got a first-hand look at security footage that captured the moments that led up to the second fight.

In the video, two groups were seen walking toward each other on the sidewalk in front of the business on Bellevue Way. A woman in a black dress is later seen pulling out a gun and firing shots during the fight.

“She fires two rounds. One in the air right there and one into the ground,” a spokesperson for the Bellevue Police Department said as he explained and broke down the footage to KIRO 7.

Following the shots, everyone involved in the fight, roughly around 10 people, ran away, including the woman.

Police said the gunfire damaged an air conditioning unit of a local business as well as a glass awning.

KIRO 7 stopped by the area Friday and found parts of the glass awning, connected to Earl’s, were shattered.

We asked to talk with the management of Earl’s, however, they declined to comment.

The fight happened on Bellevue Way, a place often filled with drivers, customers, and workers.

Bellevue police said SWAT officers found the 43-year-old woman, about 20 miles away from downtown Bellevue, at the Woodhaven Apartment Complex in Des Moines Thursday.

This is located on 30th Avenue South.

“We found the weapon on her, and we found clothing that matched the clothing she wore that night of the shooting,” said Mark Tarantino, Major with Bellevue Police Department.

KIRO 7 has reached out to the prosecutor’s office.

The suspect will face a first-degree charge of malicious mischief. Additional misdemeanors for unlawful discharge of a firearm and reckless endangerment will be filed as well, police added.
