Woman and teenager arrested for attempting to abduct toddler, 2, at car boot sale
A 21-year-old woman and a teenage girl are in custody after having been arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct a toddler at a car boot sale.
The child's mother told police that two people approached the toddler, who was walking with a relative, and then tried to walk away with her at Redcar racecourse on Thrush Road, Middlesbrough, on Sunday afternoon.
Cleveland Police have said that when the pair were challenged, they let the child go and were then detained. Both are now being quizzed by detectives.
A police spokesman said: "Enquiries into the alleged incident involving a two-year-old child at Redcar racecourse on Sunday afternoon are ongoing, and two females remain in custody being questioned.

A previous appeal for witnesses said that a woman reported that her two-year-old child was walking next to a family member when two females approached her and tried to walk away with her.
It added: "Enquiries are ongoing and police would appeal for any information regarding this alleged incident or regarding the females reported to be involved - especially in the period prior to 2.15pm.
