A caretaker is behind bars after allegedly leaving her client in a hot car to walk around a park on the Fourth of July, according to an affidavit.

Deputies responded to an injury call at Coastal Fish Company, located on 415 Great View Drive E. at Shelby Farms, around 6:05 p.m

When deputies arrived, they found a Chrysler in the parking lot with an adult woman inside the back seat unresponsive and sweating.

According to an affidavit, the car was not running and only the back seat window was halfway down.

Police said it was 92 degrees with a heat index of 105 at the time of the call and that the back seat smelled like pee.

The manager of Coastal Fish Company said the woman was first seen in the car by a guest at 5:40 p.m and was said to be unresponsive, according to the affidavit.

The manager brought the woman a bottle of water and called 911 because she appeared to be in distress and unresponsive.

The woman’s caregiver, identified as Stephani Nunn, came back to the car around 6:20 p.m., police said.

She said she brought the woman to the park for outside time and had left her in the car by herself to walk around the park, according to the affidavit.

At 6:37 p.m., Memphis Fire paramedics took the woman to Baptist East in stable condition with no injuries.

Nunn was arrested for neglect of a vulnerable adult, according to the affidavit.
