What if you could eliminate hours of travel planning with the click of a button?
Madison Rolley did just that and went viral on TikTok after she used ChatGPT to create an itinerary for a budget two-week trip through Europe.
Rolley, 24, told Insider that she had ChatGPT open for work one day when an idea struck. She knew she was going to Europe in July and that her trip had to start and end in Stockholm — but she wasn't really sure where else she wanted to go or what she wanted to do.

As a digital-nomad coach and avid traveler, Rolley was intrigued to see whether ChatGPT could help plan her trip. So she asked the artificial-intelligence tool to create a two-week travel itinerary, adding that she wanted to visit anywhere from four to six cities across Europe. Rolley also requested that ChatGPT include the costs for travel, accommodation, food, and three attractions from each location.
It sounds like a tall order, but Rolley said ChatGPT "spit out gold" and saved her "anywhere from two to five hours" of extra work.
"I was honestly very shocked by how detailed it was. I was expecting it to be very vague," Rolley told Insider. "I was really surprised with the detail, and I was really surprised it was already recommending budget options. That was very impressive to me. If you give it a budget and let it run with it, it could do even more amazing things."

When it comes to travel planning, Rolley said ChatGPT was a great tool for inspiration.
"I think what it's really good at is giving you a general outline and getting the ball rolling with your trip planning," she said. "There are some things I wouldn't necessarily have thought of for myself, like doing a canal tour in Amsterdam."
Rolley said ChatGPT's knowledge was still limited to 2021 data and couldn't provide the most updated information when it came to prices, open restaurants, or available accommodation.
But she said ChatGPT was still her new "budget-favorite travel hack of all time." Plus, who knows what it'll be capable of in the future.
