Talk about a rude awakening: A woman woke up in a hotel bed to find a snake stretched across her arm.

Melinda Major spent the night in Memphis in a second-floor room at the Hampton Inn Memphis-Walnut Grove/Baptist Hospital East hotel in Tennessee and woke up after feeling something on her arm, she wrote Friday on Facebook and later confirmed to local news outlet Fox 13. She posted a photo of the green snake coiled up on top of her comforter.

"I first thought, well it's just my hubby trying to snuggle but then quickly realized .. my hubby wasn't with me!!!" she wrote. "I looked over real quick and seen this thing stretched out across my arm guys!!!!!! I freaking flipped out!"

After throwing "that sucker across the bed against the headboard," Major said she jumped on top of the desk in her room until the hotel's manager arrived. The hotel told Fox 13 that the snake was removed immediately and staff called pest control.

"I'm not scared of many things but snakes, I can't handle," Major wrote. "Can't deal with them ... can't even look at pictures of them. I won't be sleeping for a while after this!"

Major said she frequents Hampton Inns and doesn't blame the hotel.

USA TODAY has reached out to the Hampton Inn for comment.

"It was just really scary! They went above and beyond to help calm me down and they compensated for the issue," she added on Facebook. "The staff was amazing about the whole incident."
