Video Transcript

DOUG DUNBAR: First at 5:00, want to dive into the gunfire at a Dallas street-racing event. It was a take over. It has taken, now, the life of a 54-year-old woman. And just within the last hour, our Steve Pickett got a hold of some surveillance video of-- a video that you're seeing right here shows kind of the chaos that unfolded as things were happening.

STEVE PICKETT: Dallas Police arrived on this scene 20 minutes after it all started. They found shooting victim Lynetta Washington not far from the intersection of Ledbetter and Duncanville Road. At least one gunshot killed her. She lives in the area. This is video of exactly what was happening prior to police presence, a full-scale car-stunt and drifting take over that blocked this intersection with racer after racer.

That video shows how people actually arrived to watch it all. The camera also recording the moments that crowd starts running. One witness said it was at this moment when someone started shooting. Police tell us Lynetta Washington was not part of this crowd that came here to watch the street racing takeover of this intersection. She was simply walking when those shots were fired.

TERENCE RHOADES: There was no communication between her and the racers. She was walking towards her car and just possibly got hit by a stray bullet.

STEVE PICKETT: DPD Street Racing Task Force was established to infiltrate, prevent, and stop illegal high-speed takeovers seen on Dallas streets. This time, gun shots came with this takeover. And one woman is dead. And police say they don't know who's responsible. In Dallas, Steve Pickett, CBS 11 News.
