Woman wounded in shooting in West Chatham neighborhood, police say

A 35-year-old woman was wounded Saturday afternoon in a shooting on the South Side in the West Chatham neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., the woman was in the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue when she heard shots and felt pain in the leg. She was taken in an unknown condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

No one was in custody and police were investigating.
