Woman's Doctor: New spinal fusion procedure helps reduce risk

In this Woman's Doctor segment, there's a new surgery to alleviate low back and leg pain. Mercy Medical Center Neurosurgeon Dr. Charles Park, pioneered the new minimally invasive spinal-fusion procedure called "Optealif." The incision to access the patient's spine is about the width of a common soda straw. It allows the surgeon to avoid nerves and arteries surrounding the spine which reduces the risk of injury to the nerves and blood vessels.
