This woman's trick to cutting dog nails? Peanut butter and plastic wrap on her forehead.

One woman's clever trick to cut her dog's nails has gone viral, igniting a small trend of plastic wrap-and-peanut butter headbands on social media.

Lindsey Shelton, who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but is working as a traveling nurse with her husband and two dogs, Murphy and Schmidt, decided to try something different to get her dogs to stay still while cutting their nails.

In a video, which has since amassed nearly 3 million likes on TikTok and has been shared elsewhere, she wraps her forehead in plastic wrap before slathering peanut butter on the plastic covering.

“I look like a dork,” Shelton said in the video while laughing. “I’m about to look like a genius!”

Her little scheme worked brilliantly, as viewers see Schmidt — an Australian shepherd mix — licking her forehead while Shelton is able to clip his nails without causing him much stress.

Shelton has done a variation of this trick before, putting peanut butter on a plate on the ground to get her two dogs to stay still.

“I put it on my head so they would look at me, not their paws,” she told USA TODAY.

But it doesn’t work if you and your dog aren’t familiar with one another, like if you’re fostering or just recently adopted a dog, she cautioned.

Her video has sparked a small trend, with dog owners putting the "PB Challenge" to the test.

As for Shelton, she’s amazed this odd trick has gone viral — but she knows it’s a great way to find some joy in of an otherwise-tough procedure.

”It’s fun to do and it does help your dog relate the scary experience to something (food-related).”
