Women's World Cup: USWNT looks for revenge against Sweden

The United States women's national team returns to the field against Sweden on Thursday (3 p.m. ET, FOX) in their final World Cup group stage match. The USWNT have steamrolled the opposition to date — in two games, they’ve scored 16 goals and allowed none. Both Sweden and the United States have won their first two games and already are through to the knockout stage. Team USA can clinch the top spot in the group with a win or a draw. The Swedes will be the USWNT’s toughest test so far. There's also animosity between the two squads because of a controversial game at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where the Swedes beat the reigning World Cup champs in the quarterfinals on penalty kicks. This game will provide insight into how the Americans will fare against the tournament’s top teams.

NBA draft: All eyes on Zion Williamson

The NBA draft is Thursday night (7 p.m. ET, ESPN), with all eyes on the New Orleans Pelicans, who have the No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks. The top pick is expected to be Zion Williamson. The No. 4 selection was acquired in Saturday's blockbuster Anthony Davis trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. With Williamson, the Pelicans look set to cash in on a player many regard as a generational talent. However, top picks haven't always fared well in the league. Iran says Revolutionary Guard shot down U.S. drone

More details are expected to emerge Thursday after Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it shot down a U.S. drone amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over its collapsing nuclear deal. The Guard said it shot down a RQ-4 Global Hawk over Iranian airspace, while a U.S. official told The Associated Press the downing happened over international airspace in the Strait of Hormuz. The different accounts could not be immediately reconciled. The shootdown came after the U.S. military previously alleged Iran fired a missile at another drone last week that responded to the attack on two oil tankers near the Gulf of Oman. The U.S. blames Iran for the attack on the ships, which Tehran denies. As a result, the past events have raised fears that a miscalculation or further rise in tensions could push the U.S. and Iran into an open conflict, some 40 years after Tehran’s Islamic Revolution.

Alabama's Moore to announce Senate plans

Roy Moore, the unsuccessful Republican candidate in Alabama’s 2017 special election for U.S. Senate, will announce on Thursday whether he plans to run for the seat again in 2020. After Moore clinched the Republican nomination in 2017, multiple women came forward and accused him of sexual misconduct with young girls. Moore denied the allegations but went on to lose to Democrat Doug Jones in the heavily Republican state. Despite supporting Moore in 2017, President Donald Trump has urged him not to run for the seat in 2020.

The original Steven Spielberg classic “Jaws” was released 44 years ago on Wednesday. The film is now not only remembered for scaring millions away from the ocean in 1975, but also for pioneering today’s wide release, blockbuster movie system.
