Women slashed, punched in face in random Brooklyn subway station attacks

A man slashed a woman in the face in an unprovoked attack on a Brooklyn subway platform, then ran upstairs and repeatedly punched another random woman in the face, police said Thursday.

The first victim, age 30, was standing on the northbound 5 Train platform at the Flatbush Ave./Atlantic Ave. station in Prospect Heights when the unhinged man approached her around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.

He randomly pulled out a sharp object and slashed her in the face.

The attacker then ran up the stairs to the mezzanine level of the station and began punching a 47-year-old woman in the face.

He eventually ran up the stairs to street level and took off, police said.

Medics took the 30-year-old woman to the Brooklyn Hospital Center and the 47-year-old woman to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Both were listed in stable condition.

Police are still looking for the man, described as in his 40s with dreadlocks and last seen wearing a black shirt and pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
