WOMEN'S HOCKEY: WCHA names former Bemidji State AD Tracy Dill interim commissioner
Jul. 5—BEMIDJI — Tracy Dill didn't stay retired for long.
The now-former Bemidji State director of athletics, fresh off a nine-year tenure at BSU that ended on July 1, was named the interim commissioner of the WCHA on Tuesday. He will start with the league on Aug. 1.
Dill succeeds Jennifer Flowers, who left the WCHA in mid-June to become director of athletics at Southwest Minnesota State.
"I am excited about this opportunity to continue working with some great colleagues," Dill said in a press release. "We have wonderful student-athletes and coaches in this league and I will continue working and advocating on their behalf."
Flowers helmed the league for three years before transitioning to SMSU, and Dill credited her for leaving him a strong foundation on which to build.
"Jen Flowers did a terrific job during her time with the WCHA and has put us in a great position to continue as the premier women's college hockey league in the country," Dill said. "The bar has been set pretty high, and I look forward to working alongside our talented and dedicated staff to uphold those standards."
Prior to his tenure with the Beavers, Dill served in athletic administration and as a coach at St. Cloud State.
WCHA board chair and Minnesota State AD Kevin Buisman indicated the conference will likely begin a national search for a full-time replacement at a date to be determined next spring.
