Women's March Rockford moves annual event to March

ROCKFORD — Women's March Rockford is moving its annual event to March this year.

In statement, the organization said:

"Every January, since 2017, women and our regional allies marched in solidarity with others seeking social justice and rallying for women’s rights. It was our intention to organize a similar event this year. However, because, above all, Women’s March Rockford values the health and safety of our members, allies, supporters, and all humans, we have decided to postpone our annual event and, instead, use our voice to encourage everyone to take the steps necessary to achieve better health outcomes for us all."

Women's March Rockford, borne out of the Women’s March on Washington in 2017, advocates for women's rights, gender equity and social justice among other issues.

The organization said it plans to sponsor a variety of events in March to celebrate Women's History Month and International Women's Day.
