You Won't Believe What This Pendant Is Made Out Of
We've said it before, and we'll say it again: Upcycling is the affordable, creative, and environmentally friendly solution to so many decorating woes. And if you're not convinced of this yet, Harry Nuriev's striking pendant light is about to prove that literally anything can be transformed into something beautiful and useful. Of course, it helps to be a talented furniture designer with a keen eye, as is the Moscow-born creative behind New York-based architecture and design firm Crosby Studios.
Modern yet classic, glitzy yet unpretentious, the pendant light is the focal point of Nuriev's NYC dining room. But where does it get its jazzy, vibrant blue hue, you ask? It's recycling bin scraps! It's an old glass bottle! Nope, it's a ton of Bic pens. About 300, in fact.

"It's made from 300-ish Bic pens that he carefully unscrewed, one by one, to remove the ink inside, leaving the clear cylindrical tubes and blue caps to dangle from a ring like crystals," Architectural Digest reports. "We're in our blue phase, between Picasso and [Yves] Klein," he explains, and the unassuming shells of those Bic pens were perfectly aligned with that design directive.
