It won't be long until we next see Meghan Markle in public

From Cosmopolitan

Meghan Markle is currently on maternity leave following the birth of her adorable royal baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. We don't know exactly how long the new mum plans to take off from her royal duties, but all the Meghan fans out there will be pleased to hear we'll probably seeing her in public sooner than we think.

One of the biggest events in the royal calendar each year is Trooping the Colour, a military parade and RAF plane flyover in celebration of Queen Elizabeth's 'official' birthday (she gets two, remember, because she's the Queen). During the celebration, the royal family gather together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch all the pomp and ceremony, and to wave at members of the public who have also come to watch.

It's been the location for various brilliant royal moments, including Prince Harry's famous tongue-out moment when he was three, and Savannah Phillips putting her hand over Prince George's mouth at last year's event.

Last year was the first year Meghan Markle appeared on the balcony for Trooping the Colour, less than a month after her wedding to Prince Harry. And it seems she may well feature in this year's ceremony too, on 8 June, despite still being in the early days with newborn Archie.

Although the royal family hasn't confirmed Meghan will appear on the balcony with Prince Harry and the rest of the senior royals, Kate Middleton was at roughly the same point in her maternity leave with Prince Louis last year and she attended the event. Louis himself didn't turn up - he was just six weeks old at the time - so we can basically assume baby Archie won't be making his second public appearance on Buckingham Palace's balcony in two weekends' time.

If Meghan does attend Trooping the Colour, it won't be a sign her maternity leave is over quite yet. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren't thought to have hired a royal nanny, with the couple reportedly planning to remain "hands on" with Archie until as long as they can, before Meghan needs to get fully back to her royal responsibilities later this year.

This year's Trooping the Colour may not feature the royal family's newest addition, but it will be the year Prince Louis makes his debut. Older brother Prince George first took part in the event in 2015, when he was one, the same age as Princess Charlotte in 2016.

Let's see what antics the royal kids get up to on the balcony this year...
