Wood County inspections: Evidence of insects, improper cooling methods, food stored under raw chicken and eggs

The following are the latest results of Wood County Health Department inspections on licensed food establishments and other types of businesses, which the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune and Marshfield News-Herald report monthly.

Arpin

  • Me & Mom's Catering, 8213 State 186: No violations.

  • Pair-A-Dice, 6313 Wood County N: Aug. 30: No violations.

Hewitt

  • Baka Chicken, 7955 Hemlock St.: July 30: No violations.

Marshfield

  • Central Café, 1209 S. Central Ave.: Aug. 25: Two violations: Drinking cup without cover seen in food preparation area (corrected during inspection); both handwashing sinks not hands free.

  • China Chef, 233 S. Central Ave.: Aug. 2: Three violations: Preparation coolers not at proper temperature; chlorine test kit not available for checking sanitizer concentration; no certified food manager for establishment. Re-inspection: Aug. 10: Two violations: chlorine test kit not available for checking sanitizer concentration; no certified food manager for establishment.

  • Domino's Pizza, 122 S. Central Ave.: Aug. 9: One violation: Ceiling tile in dish machine area cracked, falling apart and not cleanable.

  • MoJo's To Go, 201 S. Central Ave.: Aug. 2: Four violations: Deli and dessert cooler not at proper temperature; drinking cup without cover seen in food preparation area (corrected during inspection); brats do not have mark of meat inspection; honey missing name and contact information and brats missing ingredients. Re-inspection Aug. 10: No violations.

  • Taco Johns, 813 Central Ave.: Aug. 10: Three violations: Handwashing sink full of food and a whisk, so not available for handwashing; no certified food manager for establishment; retail food establishment permit not posted in conspicuous area.

Pittsville

  • Pittsville Cafe, 5355 Second Ave.: Aug. 19: Two violations; Potatoes improperly reheated in slow cooker; diced ham and diced tomatoes not held at proper temperature in line cooler (corrected during inspection).

Wisconsin Rapids

  • Avocados, 3551 Plover Road: Aug. 17: Six violations: Improper cooling methods for rice and queso; drinking cup without cover in food preparation area (corrected during inspection); zucchini stored under raw chicken and oranges stored under raw shell eggs; pico, diced tomatoes and pork in two-door line cooler not at proper temperature; consumer advisory missing disclosure statement on menu; women's bathroom not provided with covered garbage can. Re-inspected Aug. 17: Two violations: improper cooling methods for rice and queso; uncovered drinking cup in food preparation area (corrected during inspection).

  • Burger King No. 2735, 940 Eighth St. S.: Aug. 10: Five violations: Packaged buns stored in area subject to splash from sink (corrected during inspection); women's bathroom not provided with covered waste receptacle; floor and wall juncture near front lid storage rack not coved; evidence of insects in dry storage area; floor below cooking equipment not cleaned on a frequent basis.

  • Critter's Pub, 6620 State 13 S.: Aug. 3: No violations.

  • From the Ground Up, 250 W. Grand Ave.: Aug. 8: No violations.

  • Jim's Barb-ie-Q-Shack, 3940 Eighth St. S.: Aug. 10: No violations.

  • Kellner International Bar, 1204 80th St. S.: Aug. 17: No violations.

  • Lake Aire Supper Club, 6510 State 13 S.: Aug. 24: One violation: Flour scoop improperly stored (corrected during inspection).

  • Pasquale's, 2930 Eighth St. S.: Aug. 18: Three violations: Milk in upstairs walk-in cooler and scampi in downstairs walk-in cooler exceeded their date marks; line cooler and pizza cooler not equipped with permanent thermometers; door seals of microwave dirty.

  • Rocky Rococo, 1841 Eighth St. S.: Sept. 1: No violations.

  • Shorty's BBQ, 2962 State 73 N.: Aug. 10: No violations.

  • Sleep Inn & Suites Breakfast, 4221 Eighth St. S.: Aug. 4: No violations.
