Wood County inspections: Nine businesses with no violations, but one restaurant with eight

Editor’s note: The inspection reports for Danny K’s and Drop In Again have been updated.

The following are the latest results of Wood County Health Department inspections on licensed food establishments and other types of businesses, which the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune and Marshfield News-Herald reports monthly.

Babcock

  • Buck's N Berries Family Restaurant, 1699 State 80: July 26; No violations.

Marshfield

  • Chips of Marshfield, 1409 S. Central Ave.: July 6: One violation: Ice machine dirty (corrected during inspection).

  • Five-O-One Sports Bar & Grill, 501 S. Washington Ave.: July 6: Three violations: Ware washing machine not dispensing detergent or sanitizer automatically (corrected during inspection); knife broken and repaired with tape; hole or gap in back door.

  • Hardee's No. 34, 1618 S. Roddis Ave.: July 5: One violation: Coke dispenser leaking so much water it was accumulating.

  • Hewitt's Meat Processing, 210 Downwind Drive: July 5: No violations.

  • Hotel Marshfield's Libby McNeill's, 2700 S. Central Ave.: July 25: Four violations: consumer advisory missing all menu items that can be served undercooked; prep cooler online has a broken handle fixed with tape; working containers of water and chemical not labeled with name; non-food contact surfaces of walk-in freezer door dirty.

  • Jack's, 317 N. Central Ave.: July 12: No violations.

  • Kentucky Fried Chicken, 1000 S. Central Ave.: July 5: One violation: Coving in walk-in cooler falling off the wall.

  • Mojo's To Go, 201 S. Central Ave.: July 12: One violation: No handwashing signs at retail side of business.

  • Simplicity Inn, 504 N. St. Joseph Ave.: July 5: No violations.

Nekoosa

  • 2 The Edge, 428 Market St.: July 26: Three violations: Santizers not used according to label instructions; no test kit for monitoring sanitizer concentration; floor and wall juncture in men's bathroom not coved.

  • Foley's Nita Brew, 616 Market St.: July 26: Three violations: No certified food manager for establishment; tartar and cocktail sauce stored in unlabeled containers; floor in walk-in cooler not smooth and easily cleanable.

  • Nekoosa Subway, 106 First St.: July 12: No violations

  • Rembs Celebration Center, 250 S. Oak Ave.: July 20: No violations.

  • Roux's Roadhouse 73, 784 State 73 S.: July 17: No violations.

Pittsville

  • Horsin' Around Saloon, 5346 Second Ave.: July 18: One violation: Vent hood and two-door reach-in freezer not cleaned frequently.

  • Pittsville Lions Park, 5572 Fourth Ave.: July 18: One violation: Insect control device located over food preparation area.

Wisconsin Rapids

  • China Palace, 2113 Eighth St. S.: July 27: Eight violations: Food in walk-in cooler and prep cooler not at proper temperature; person in charge not monitoring food for cold holding temperature; damaged cans of ketchup and ground bean sauce in dry storage; drinking cup without cover in dry storage; scoops without handles stored in contact with seed and salt in dry storage area; unsealed wood present in walk-in cooler; no irreversible registering thermometer in dish machine; handwashing sink is not hands free in server area.

  • Danny K's, 950 W. Grand Ave.: July 28: Soups not at proper temperature (corrected during inspection); potato salad and coleslaw not held at proper temperature; sanitizer not used according to label instructions; twice-baked potatoes improperly cooling (corrected during inspection). Reinspected Aug. 2: Soups at wrong temperature (corrected during inspection); twice-baked potatoes improperly cooling (corrected during inspection).

  • Drop In Again, 2963 State 73: July 26: Two violations: No covered garbage can in women's bathroom; women's bathroom door not kept closed.

  • Elks Lodge No. 693, 430 W. Jackson St.: July 12: Four violations: Ranch dressing and baked beans in walk-in cooler not at proper temperature; test kit not available for testing sanitizer concentration; no current food manager's certificate posted in establishment; no irreversible registering thermometer for ware washing machine: Re-inspection: July 18: One violation: no irreversible registering thermometer for ware washing machine.

  • Grandma's USA Cafe, 1920 Wylie St.: July 25: Five violations: Cooked sausage stored under raw shell eggs in walk-in cooler; sanitizer not used according to label instructions (corrected during inspection); chicken not properly thawed (corrected during inspection); floor cracked below the flat top; floor below cooking equipment soiled.

  • Headquarters Bar of Wisconsin Rapids, 140 Second St. N.: July 27: One violation: No certified food manager for establishment.

  • Jokers Bar & Grill, 5075 State 13/34: July 26: No violations.

  • Sunrise Bar, 2350 Sixth St. S.: July 27: One violation: Interior of ice machine dirty.

  • Whiskey Rapids Saloon, 150 N. Second St: July 26: No violations.
