Woodruff looking strong after returning from IL

Drew Silva dives into Brandon Woodruff's strong return from his stint on the IL and explains why managers who bought low on him could be poised to reap the rewards.

- Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff looks a whole lot more like himself these days after missing nearly five whole weeks between late May and late June because of a right ankle sprain, and a diagnosis of Raynaud's syndrome, which was causing numbness in his fingers. Since being activated off the injured list on June 28, he's gone 2 and 0 in two road starts versus the Rays and Pirates, yielding just one run on eight hits and 0 walks over 11 innings, while tallying 18 strikeouts. His season Era is now thankfully below 4.

And though that 2.56 ERA mark from last year is probably unreachable, on account of some blow ups in April and May, the 29-year-old right hander does appear poised for a dominant second half in Milwaukee. Hopefully, it didn't sell low. On the flip side, maybe you bought Lowe here in a gem of a trade.

Woodruff went in the second or third round of the average Yahoo draft this spring. He was on average, the fifth starter off the board behind only Gerrit Cole, Corbin Burnes, Walker Buehler, and Max Scherzer. And he's looking more that part as the baseball calendar rolls into July.
