Woodstock Park hosts local youth production of Broadway hit “Dreamgirls”

Woodstock Park in Jacksonville was honored Saturday morning to have a local youth production of the Broadway hit “Dreamgirls” hosted by the organization “Don’t Miss a Beat.”

Action News Jax Tenikka Hughes hosted the event put on by the organization, which uses the performing arts as a tool to develop youth and cultivate their talents, focusing on kids in the Woodstock, Brooklyn, and Riverside neighborhoods.

A six-week camp helps immerse youth in the power and freedom of the arts.

“Don’t Miss A Beat”'s Broadway Summer Camp is one of the organization’s flagship programs in a 13-year tradition.

Every summer camp ends with the finale showcase - a musical theatre Broadway production by the campers for family, friends, and the community.

The production was also part of the free day-long affair with attendees having access to some of Northeast Florida’s best talent performing alongside national and international headlining jazz artists.
