Delivery drivers are able to make some of their routes a little sweeter for some households this holiday season — at least for the four-legged friends they encounter.

USPS, UPS, FedEx and other delivery drivers are encouraged to go to WoofGangPupPost.com  to pick up a free bag of Pumpkin Little Bites, which they can give out to the dogs they may encounter this holiday season.

Diego Suarez, chief marketing officer at Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming, said this is the first year the company has done something like this.

The initiative to give free, 8-ounce bags of dog treats to delivery drivers started last week and will continue until Dec. 21 while supplies last.

"Our social media team noticed some trends about delivery drivers handing out treats to pups around their routes, and the videos were so cute," Suarez said. "We noticed lots of positive engagement, and one of our brand values is that everyone deserves a treat."

Any delivery driver can request treats, as can local residents who want to give treats to the next driver they see dropping off a package. Suarez said they were seeing a "good mix of delivery drivers and non-drivers" who were picking up the bags of treats.

Those interested in participating can request treats online to be shipped directly to them. Local pet lovers also can visit the Woof Gang storefront at at 590 St. Johns Ave. in Avondale to peruse more treats and other items for sale.

About halfway through the campaign, Woof Gang was seeing "lots of positive engagement" online and had received plenty of requests for treats, Suarez said.

Typically, the first 20 dogs to visit a new Woof Gang store get free treats for a year during grand opening celebrations for new locations, but the company has not done a free treat campaign on this scale before.

"We wanted to spread a little bit of holiday love throughout the country," Suarez said.
