Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt collapses at news conference, is stable – What we know

Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt appeared to collapse during a news conference at the Woonsocket City Hall Thursday morning and was taken away in an ambulance, according to online reports.

Baldelli-Hunt is reported to be in stable condition at Landmark Medical Center, according to her spokeswoman, Sue Gaulin.

The mayor was set to attend an event put on by New England Donor Services to commemorate National Organ Donation Month, according to a news release for the event, which was taking place at Woonsocket City Hall at 10:30 a.m.

At the event, the mayor appeared to collapse and attendees were rushed out of the building, according to reports by Ethan Shorey, editor of The Valley Breeze newspaper, who broke the news on Twitter.
