Wooster Christian School will present “Annie Jr.” on Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25, at the Church of the Saviour, 480 Fry Road, Wooster.

"Annie Jr." tells the story of a little orphan girl named Annie. The cruel orphanage matron, Ms. Hannigan, treats the girls like servants, but Annie clings to the hope of finding her parents. When billionaire Oliver Warbucks invites Annie to stay with him for Christmas, she accepts and is whisked away into the world of the rich. But, when a reward for anyone proven to be Annie’s parents is issued, evil schemers attempt to take her for the money. Will the greedy claim her, or will she finally find her real family?

Margaret Leatherman, a director at Bright Life Players, has assisted in directing "Annie Jr."This is the 11th production she has directed while working with Wooster Christian School.

“It’s a pleasure to work here,” Leatherman said, “because the staff is always courteous and they go beyond the expected.”

Leatherman is especially excited to present scenes “It’s a Hard Knock Life” and the radio scene, which will star middle school student Zac Schar.

Wooster Christian actors highlight favorite parts

A few students were asked about their experiences associated with the production.

Violet Fridley, starring as Annie, said her favorite part about being included in the play is “all the memories we make.” One of Wooster Christian’s seniors, Sadie Hinkle, enjoys playing Miss Hannigan. When asked about her favorite scenes, she replied, “Either 'Together at Last; or ;Little Girls' because I get to be completely obnoxious, but it’s my character, so I can get away with it.”

Selah Creasap will feature as the conniving Lily.

“Mrs. Leatherman is a great leader to me and the cast. She has really helped me understand the art of drama and going outside of my comfort zone," Creasap said. "I now understand the importance of exaggerating the character I play thanks to Mrs. Leatherman. She really brings the play together, and we would all be lost without her.”
