Worcester County man among victims of NH plane crash

TEMPLETON — A Worcester County man has been identified as one of the two people killed in a fiery plane crash in Keene, New Hampshire, Friday.

Keene police said Lawrence Marchiony, 41, of Templeton, died when the single-engine aircraft crashed into a multifamily home just before 7 p.m., shortly after it departed from Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport.

The plane was owned by Monadnock Aviation.

Marvin David Dezendorf, 60, of Townshend, Vermont, also perished in the crash, police said. It was unclear which of the men was piloting the plane.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and it is still too early to determine exactly what happened.

A check of Federal Aviation Administration records shows both men are licensed pilots. Marchiony's license was most recently issued in February while Dezendorf's was issued in 2010. A LinkedIn page lists Dezendorf as a flight instructor.

Monadnock News in 2017 noted that Marchiony had taken his first solo flight.

"Congratulations are due to Larry Marchiony for his first solo flight! Larry trains with CFI David Dezendorf in our Piper Warriors and plans for this to be the start of a long career in aviation. He has his sight set on becoming a Flight Instructor. He's on his way with this beautifully orchestrated solo flight," according to the newsletter.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
