Worcester man arraigned, another sought in shooting death of city man in Randolph

A shooting outside a Randolph social club last summer that left a Worcester man dead and two Worcester men indicted on murder charges has led to the arrest and arraignment of one suspect, while the other remains at large.

Shawn Johnson, 29, was arrested Wednesday in Webster, according to a release late Monday from the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.

Johnson was arraigned Thursday in Norfolk Superior Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed assault with intent to murder, mayhem and carrying a firearm, in the July 4, 2022, shooting death of 29-year-old Ivanildo Cabral of Worcester.

Jovani Delossantos, 29, of Worcester, is wanted by police.

A second man, Jovani Delossantos, 29, was also indicted for murder and other charges in the July Fourth shooting of Cabral in the parking lot of the Mojitos Country Club on Mazzeo Drive in Randolph, a city just south of Boston and roughly an hour from Worcester.

Cabral was one of two men shot around 8 p.m. that night, according to investigators, but did not survive his injuries.

Delossantos has yet to face charges and remains at large.

“If any member of the public has information on where Mr. Delossantos is, we ask them to not approach or speak to him, but to call Randolph Police at 781-963-1212,” Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said in the release.

Johnson was apprehended Wednesday by state police, Randolph and Webster police.

“[Police] converged on a residence on North Main Street in the town of Webster at roughly 8:30 a.m. Wednesday,” Morrissey said in the release. “Officers found Shawn Johnson at that address and took him into custody without incident.”

Bianca Chionchio, 28, was also indicted in December and charged with an accessory after the fact of murder for driving Johnson and Delossantos to New York after the shooting.

She pleaded not guilty and is due back in Norfolk Superior Court June 9.
