Worcester mother and son, 3, found dead in Connecticut

The deaths of a mother and her 3-year-old son, found dead Valentine's Day in a Brooklyn, Connecticut, home, have both been ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

A third victim, who is listed as the boy's father in the mother and son's joint obituary, was ruled a suicide by the medical examiner's office.

Lury M. Pizarro, 33, and Emanuel M. Pizarro, 3, of Brooklyn, Connecticut, formerly of Worcester, were identified by Connecticut authorities on Thursday as two of the victims.

Jose A. Perez, 32, of Worcester, was identified Friday as the third victim.

The medical examiner's office said Miss Pizarro died of gunshot wounds to her head, neck and torso. Emanual Perez died of a gunshot wound to the head. Both deaths were ruled homicides, according to the Norwich Bulletin.

Around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 14, state police in Danielson received a report of a suspicious incident at a residence on Middle Street in Brooklyn. Three people, two adults and a child, were found dead.

State police said the case appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.

Miss Pizarro was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, and worked as a system manager for a transportation company for a few years.

Pizarro leaves her mother, Maria Algarin; her brother, Robert Pizarro; her sister, Rebecca Algarin; her grandmother, Milagros Monge, all of Worcester; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is predeceased by her father, Roberto Pizarro.

A joint funeral service will be held Feb. 22 for a mother, formerly of Worcester, and her 3-year-old son

The funeral for mother and son is Wednesday. O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

According to a GoFundMe posting, Ms. Pizarro was “an amazing and beloved mother, daughter, sister and cousin.”

“Lury was a kind and generous person who touched the lives of many. She was selfless and always helping others,” the post states.

The post also says Emanuel was "smart, loving, caring and playful.”

“It saddens and breaks my heart how excited Lury was to become a mother. It was something she desired so much,” the post states.
