Worker dies after being hit by a tractor at Evergreen Twp. farm

A migrant worker was killed when he was struck by a loader tractor in Evergreen Township Sunday.

Sanilac County Dispatch received a 911 call shortly before 7 p.m. reporting that a farm employee had been run over by a loader tractor at a farm in the 3000 block of North Decker Road, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department.

The initial investigation revealed that a 25-year-old migrant worker from Mexico was westbound on the farm's driveway in a loader tractor when he struck a 38-year-old migrant worker, also from Mexico, who was walking in the driveway, the department said.

The 38-year-old migrant worker was pronounced dead on scene.

The incident remains under investigation.

Michigan State Police, Kingston Police and Cass City MMR also responded to the scene, as well as Lamotte Township and Argyle Township fire departments.
