Worker injured at roadwork site in north Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — First responders rushed to an area behind Twin Lakes just after 1 p.m. Tuesday after getting the report of a vehicle hitting a building.

When they got to the area of 20th and Woodrow, they found out the incident did not involve a building. Police say a worker was injured by something that dropped from a truck.

According to the Wichita Police Department, a construction crew is doing heavy demolition on the street.

“We had one worker doing some repairs to a vehicle, a construction vehicle,” Lieutenant Joe Camp, WPD, said. “An object of that vehicle got dropped onto the worker, and he is not seriously hurt.”

Camp says the man’s co-workers are taking him to the hospital to be checked.

“It was just an unfortunate accident, and, luckily, nobody was hurt worse than they are,” he said.
