Worker killed on 71 Fwy in Inland Empire
A worker was killed in a crash on the 71 Freeway in San Bernardino County Monday morning.
The worker, whose identity has not been released, was killed on the northbound freeway near South Euclid Avenue, just north of the Butterfield Ranch area of Chino, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Mallory Powers Loring, director of donor engagement and communications for the nonprofit Chrysalis, whose slogan is “Changing Lives Through Jobs,” confirmed to KTLA that the deceased was one of their employees.
“This has been felt very heavily at Chrysalis today and we have brought our team members back to the center where we gathered and our HR team also helped ensure that we had EAP support connections available,” she added.
Aerial footage from Sky5 showed a box truck that crashed through a guardrail and into a wooded area alongside the freeway, and a white van appeared to have sustained significant damage from a collision.
How that collision occurred, however, remains to be seen.
As of about 12:30 p.m., northbound traffic was limited to the HOV lane, as the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes were closed for the investigation.
