Workers at ZNPP forced to sign contracts with Rosatom under duress, Ukraine says

According to the message, the occupiers in nearby Enerhodar have significantly stepped up efforts to identify those Ukrainian nuclear power workers who refuse to sign employment contracts with Rosatom’s subsidiaries.

Russian forces are accused of torturing employees, with several reportedly beaten into submission in an attempt to secure their cooperation with the aggressor.

"Despite the threats, torture, blackmail, and constant intimidation, Ukrainians at Zaporizhzhya NPP are upholding their dignity and refusing to cooperate with the occupiers," Energoatom stated.

Zaporizhzhya NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, and has been occupied by Russian forces since March 4, 2022. Several ZNPP facilities have been damaged by Russian shelling, and the station's employees are captives of the occupying troops.

The Kremlin uses the site as cover for its forces, as Ukraine can’t return fire for the risk of causing a nuclear calamity.
