The organisers of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos have announced President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's personal participation in one of its events on 16 January.

Details: It has been reported that Zelenskyy will personally deliver a special address on the Achieving Security and Cooperation in a Fractured World panel.

He will be joined on the panel by WEF Chairperson Klaus Schwab and the WEF President Børge Brende. On the evening of 16 January,Davos will also host the opening of the Pinchuk Foundation's project Deciding Your Tomorrow, featuring top officials, including Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland. The participation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy at this event is also not ruled out.

Background:

  • Earlier this week, the media reported on the likely visit of the President of Ukraine to Switzerland, spanning two days, including his speech at the World Economic Forum. The official programme of the visit has not been disclosed.

  • It is also known that on 12 January, Zelenskyy had his first phone conversation with Viola Amherd, the current President of Switzerland, and that a meeting at national security adviser level regarding the Peace Formula is scheduled to be held in Davos on 14 January.
