World Kindness Day 2019: Five inspiring acts of kindness of the year

People are finding big and small ways every day to show appreciation, spread joy, or just do something nice for someone else. Often times, these acts of kindness go unnoticed or under-appreciated, but every once in awhile, these good deeds end up inspiring thousands, or even millions online.

For World Kindness Day, here are five of the best kind acts that truly inspired us this year:

5. Hospital staff line the hall to celebrate Marine's graduation

Emergency surgery didn't stop this team of doctors and nurses from giving a newly-graduated marine the ceremony he deserved.

Marine Private Micah Wooten had to miss his graduation from basic training* in order to have emergency surgery. After performing the surgery, doctors and nurses lined the hall in order to give Wooten the salute he deserved.

The best part? To show his appreciation, Wooten snapped to attention from his stretcher.

4. College students buy EnChroma glasses for colorblind classmate

A group of students secretly saved enough money to buy their friend EnChroma glasses that would allow him see the world in full color for the first time. His reaction to the generous gift was well worth it.

3. McDonald's customer gifts his favorite employee with a car

A McDonald's employee made such a huge impression on one customer that when he learned her car had recently broken down, he gifted her with a new one. Her reaction shows just how stunned she was to receive an incredible gift.

2. High school students save a 9-year-old's birthday party

9-year-old Christian's mom was worried when only one person RSVP'd to her son's birthday party. As it turns out, there was nothing to worry about. Some very sweet high school football players showed up to Christian's party and made him feel like the star of their team.

1. Entrepreneurs donate money to help college seniors graduate

Two restaurant owners paid it forward to college seniors at their alma mater by secretly paying off the remaining tuition balance the students had on their accounts. Without this gift, these students would've had to scramble to pay it off themselves, or risk not graduating.

When the entrepreneurs revealed what they'd done for the students, it left everyone in tears.

These scholars were worried about how they were going to pay for their last semester at Clark Atlanta University. Two alumni planned an incredible gift so they wouldn't have to worry about that anymore.
