World Relief Wisconsin preparing for refugees arriving in Chippewa Valley

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – World Relief Wisconsin continues to wait for more refugees to arrive in the Chippewa Valley. So far, 21 of the projected 75 refugees are now in Eau Claire, with all expected to come to the Chippewa Valley by October. World Relief says refugees are vetted for months overseas by the Federal Government, before even making the trip to the United States.

Chippewa Valley site manager Ka Vang says World Relief is working on transparency through monthly meetings with community stakeholders, “Those monthly debriefings are for community partners and stakeholders. We’re talking about the school district, the health clinics that are serving our families. We’re talking about any other DHS programs that serve the families as well.”

World Relief Wisconsin says all 75 should arrive by October. Vang says the refugees that are here could choose to move from Eau Claire.
